Music.  Glasgow, 10/11/2019

Three Catalan artists will be performing at the fifth edition of the Scottish sonic arts festival "for the visually minded", which will be held at different locations in Glasgow between the 31st of October and the 10th of November.

Sonica, produced by Cryptic, is a biennial festival in Glasgow dedicated to world class visual sonic arts, showcasing the best of both local and international talent. Overall, the festival encourages interdisciplinarity and an innovative approach to sonic arts make it one of the most important events in the field.

The 2017 edition of the festival presented 63 artists from 14 different countries, a total of 29 performances and 18 installations, which could be enjoyed by around 18,000 attendees, in emblematic spaces of the city, such as the Tramway or the Centre for Contemporary Arts (CCA).

Its fifth edition, which will be held at different locations in Glasgow between the 31st of October and the 10th of November, will present the work from three Catalan artists: cabosanroque, Shoeg and Alba G. Corral.

cabosanroque is a sonic arts duo exploring experimental music, visual arts and performing arts, with an interest in the machinic and its ability to produce emotions. They will present the critically-acclaimed piece Joan Brossa Didn't Make Me, a monumental installation that explores the atmosphere of Catalan poet Joan Brossa's writings.

Shoeg is a visual artist with a background in classical music working between electronic music and experimental music. His work considers the relatiuonship between humanity, technology and the political dimension of perception. He will present his project titled Container.

Finally, Barcelonian visual artist and creative coder Alba G. Corral, working with French artist Alex Augier, will present the project EX(O), a spherical shape in constant evolution through repeated projections.

This activity has been organised with the support of the Institut Ramon Llull.
