From Knee to Heart, 9241, IRØN MODVM and My Big Match: screenings at San Francisco Dance Film Festival

San Francisco Dance Film Festival celebrates its landmark 10th anniversary! Celebrating a decade of reframing dance, the 2019 festival will run November 2-10 at venues across San Francisco, and include over 120 films featuring both North American and world premieres. With documentaries, live performance captures from the world's greatest stages, shorts, panels, and live performances, the festival is organized into 30 varied programs.

 




From Knee to Heart (De Rodillas Corazón)

The documentary is a portrait of the career of a famous Catalan dancer and choreographer, Sol Picó. Her work is characterized by showing a strong and brave woman who is not afraid of showing her weaknesses. The film also zooms in on the artist’s more personal side: the difficulties of growing up as a dancer, the difficulties of artistic creation and how to confront her career after turning 50.

From performing arts to acrobatic dance scenes, Derek Pedros’ video is an audiovisual masterpiece.

Barcelona based filmmaker and photographer Derek Pedros has directed this dance video with Iron Skulls Co, a group of people who share their different preferences and experiences through dance.Music by Douglas Dare and Moby.

As a teaser for Dance Film SF’s launch of a new family dance film festival in March 2020, the festival will present a matinee program of short animated and live action dance films for young audiences.

Followed by a live performance by local kids aged 7-15 from the Nitty Dupree Studio of Dance.
